When Jehovah's Witnesses Attack!

Do what I do and hide in the bathroom!

The JW's were making the rounds yesterday. In year's past, my statue of Mary in the front window seemed to deter them. But, this year they were drawn to Mary and came to the door anyway.

I might have gone to the door and told them 'I believe the Catholic Church contains the fullness of the Truth' and then slammed the door in their faces! But, Saturday is my laundry day and I was still in my pjs at 11:00 a.m. when they rang the bell.

So, I hid. So there. Now you know the rest of the story!

Fascinating is it not? Now you wonder why I broke my blog silence for this! Maybe I'll continue my plan to pretend to be The Crescat and take her place in the Rome Blognic! Look at our photos! We could be twins! But, I can't possibly fit that travel plan in between my Tae Kwan Do and Let's Macrame! classes.

Hello, Miss Cathy.
Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated!
I'm "back in the saddle"...took a Lenten hiatus of sorts.
The JWs used to stop by on a regular basis years ago. Even answering the door in full habit didn't deter them.
Like we're gonna convert by reading their literature and talking to them about the "meaning of life"...uh huh.
More likely to become a secular humanist atheist (and I AM kidding here!).
Happy Holy Week!
My word verification is 'puper'...I'm dyin' here!

Is slamming the door in their faces believe the godly thing to do? You are just as responsible for evangelizing to them as they are to you. Once they leave your yard, how do you want them to think of you? Do you want them to shutter when they hear the word 'Catholic?' The Bible does forbid you from showing them kindness if they are evangelizing a different religion, but is it not better for you to converse with them?

Clamburger: Gosh, maybe I should've shocked them and gone to the door in my pajamas!

Father NP: I've missed you. I hope you are well.

Ter: I know. I can't decide what to do on Good Friday now!

Angela: I can't believe Terry told you! Well, ok, yes I can.

My husband's grandfather once removed his shirt when the JWs came. This was back in the 50s and the ladies were so shocked by the sight of a barechested man that they fled and never came back.

I've tried to convert my Jehovah's Witness woman named "Margaret" for years now. She loves me and I love her back. She sends Cards to me through the mail and they're such endearing kind letters.

I'm still working on her conversion though and so far I've been unsuccessful but I plan on a game change during the last inning.

Let's forget about these Jehovah Witnesses for just a minute.

The Catholic religion is not Bible based. It is based on pagan tradition. One cannot find Easter, Christmas, etc. The church hierarchy cannot be found in the Bible. The Catholic Encyclopedia supports these comments (look it up).

This evil church supported Hitler. This church encourages its followers to fight in wars even if it means killing fellow Catholics.

Please tell us about this "Truth" that you speak of.

I'm breaking my Holy Week silence to respond to the errors in Anonymous' comments.

The Church, in the collective sense, did not support Hitler. It's true some misguided individual Catholics did but that doesn't mean the whole Church did.

The Catholic Church selected the Scriptures that are in the Bible. The Church is founded in the Scriptures by Christ Himself. The roots of the hierarchy are in Scripture.

Christmas, which means Christ's Mass btw, and Easter are in the Bible-look for the sections dealing with the Birth of Jesus and His Resurrection.

The Bible is a foundational part of Catholicism but you are correct in indicating that the Church, in it's fullness does not rely upon Scripture alone.

Blessed Holy Week to you!

Are you sure they were not the Legion of Mary calling? Maybe that's why the statue attracted them! I am in the LOM and we go door to door. People are usually so surprised that CATHOLICS knock on people's doors, that they are happy to talk to us! I love it, great way to fulfill our obligation to evangelize.

Why hide? Just simply tell them to put you on a list so they don't call on you anymore and they won't. They simply invite people. They are not there to pressure you. Simply say: I'm not interested of ask them not to call on you anymore. It's as simple as that. If you don't want to hear their message they would rather spend time elsewhere.

That "anonymous" was a Jehovah's Witness, 100% positive.

I know because my biological mother is one, and I studied with them for many years. Those comments are cliche J.W., especially the part about the Catholic Encyclopedia. Many J.W.'s troll the internet looking for blog entries like this.

Anyway, while God can do anything, it is my experience that trying to convert a J.W. is pointless and useless. It won't happen.

However, the time is coming very, very soon (or is already here) where the J.W.'s will all have egg on their face, since their "generation of 1914 not passing away" prophecy is quickly running out of steam. Try that one out on them when they come to the door - "How's that 1914 procphecy working for you?" and see what new excuse they have for sticking with it when it doesnt' materialize. Lots of fun!

Charlotte: I think so too
