The Holy Innocents

I woke up really angry this morning. Today, is the Feast of the Holy Innocents a commemoration of the young boy martyrs that King Herod slaughtered in a vain attempt to kill the Christ child.

Why am I angry? I'm angry because the Holy Innocents are still being slaughtered, daily, here and now; 2000 years later. Abortion kills thousands each year.

The boys slaughtered by Herod died as certain martyrs for Christ. It was a brutal death, but if there is any consolation at all it's in that they were taking the place of Jesus. They died so that Jesus may live. If Jesus had not lived to sacrifice Himself for us at Calvary the consequences of where we would be right now are too terrible to contemplate.

Give thanks for those unwilling young martyrs for Christ.

Think about unwilling young death the next time you drive past an abortuary. King Herod may be dust but his actions live on.

The redemptive possibility of Jesus lives, as well, and we have much to atone for.

Spend some time today praying for an end to abortion. For my readers in the U.S., contact your legislators and tell them you are not appeased by the "compromises" of the healthcare legislation.

My thoughts exactly.
The Holy Innocents are legion today.
May God have mercy on our nation and on the whole world.
We are in big trouble.

I had the same thoughts as well.

It's just disgusting, how we humans will kill babies for our own convienience. Herod to avoid a challenge to his power, pro-choice people to aviod a challenge to their life style.

I wonder why we are so afraid of babies?

It's a good thing that those legions of aborted souls aren't angry and clamoring for justice. (I believe they are)

How can the human mind fail to make connections between killing innocent life and the (justice of God) fair recompense that is due to these aborted people. How can abortionists, procurers of abortion and all active participants in abortion not tremble with fear and not know that their days are numbered and that there will be an accounting. I'm afraid for them and for all of us.

Excluding my blogger buddies here, I would also like to add that most people have forgotten and are desensitized to the sin of birth control and that it was the foundation and twisted sister of abortion in word and deed. How many couples hate abortion, but yet use birth control? My personal opinion is that it's just as severe and the accounting in missing souls and in justice will probably be greater, but I'm just guessing. At least with abortion God has a soul for an eternity , but with birth control God gets nothing.

It's all perfectly demonic isn't it and just like with any battle there have been innocent casualties, and as the world saw them, they just got in the way.

It's a bitter day.
Not a feast for celebrating, in any traditional way...there's no cake or craft for this sad day or these sad times. We'll just say some more prayers and plead for mercy.

Of all you guys ignorant redneck hit the nail on the head: why are we so afraid of babies? Perhaps evil really is underlying this whole thing, after all, so many folks live in sin these days and we live in a culture where the prevailing opinion is that sin is just a guilt complex and there are no eternal consqeuences to actions.
