What Does the 3-Ring Binder Really Say?

Ladies: Do we need further proof that as we age we are going to be blind as bats? Hold that WAYUPCLOSE to my eyes, please, dear, thank you. And who stitched that alleluia? Do you call that straight? Buy the MOON-sized host so the blind gas bags in the back can see it.

Is anyone supposed to see this photo and be inspired to convert to, uh, what is it again? Yeah, register me, sis, for that womynpriest parish, yo!

I hate to be sexist, but nobody can rant like a woman. And no woman can rant like Cath.

Hey, did you note the Walmart goblets they are using for their ceremony?

The collection must have been lacking.

I've started my three day fast in preparation for the Fat Sat Brunch on Saturday. I can hardly wait.

I love how your comments range from the compassionate, loving "Gentle Reader" ones, to the very sensationalized, judging, mean-spirited diatribes. Help me understand this emotional dichotomy?!

Cathy - I agree with anonymous. You should stop that "Gentle Reader" garbage RIGHT NOW!!

In all seriousness, though - and only speaking for myself here - images of women simulating a Mass and a consecration infuriates me, as well as saddens me. The desecration of the Holy Mass, the attacks on the priesthood, the blatant blasphemy - it's enough to get any concerned Roman Catholic angered.

What they are doing is silly, stupid and sacrilegious - and deserves equal doses of scorn and pity.

IMHO, anyway.

In the background of the picture is the Protestant two empty sticks;

No Christ crucified.

Very apropos.

So is it really that easy? To simply say:

"That's all me. If you figure me out, let me know."?

I would think your Catholic Christian faith would hold you to a higher standard. Benedict XVI has issued articles on keeping blogs civil and respectful -- even when responding to situations that are not in keeping with the Magisterium. Please tone down your venomous, cynical sarcasm. Jesus expects more from you.

Last time I was on an airline flight I put my nice little bottle of Holy Water (and labeled "Holy Water" ) in my quart baggie, as we must do with all of our lotions and potions. The TSA agent noted it and very politely inquired if I was a priest...

I told that story to Fr Erik the other day and his eyes just rolled...

I've been enquired on several occasions in other churches if I was a religious sister, due to the nice pantsuit, scarf and usually small crucifix or pin I wear, especially when I'm attending conferences..

But being called a priest is a first for me :) Of course..he might have meant Episcopal priest :)

Anon: No, it isn't easy to say. I agree Jesus expects more from us and we often fail. I fail, you fail, the misguided women in the photo fail.

Thank God for Catholic Tradition!
That means that I can sweep away that image and focus on being a true follower of Christ (or striving for it anyway).
Anonymous belongs to the camp that cannot stand criticism but loves to dish it out.

The photo looks so 70s! I know, I was there!

Anon--i hope you someday comment on my blog, where I will feel free to point out to you that it's entirely possible to be judgmental and rude while seeming to be polite. I don't hold to Cathy's high standards.
