his Purpose Driven Life

I don't know what the purpose of your life is, but the purpose of my life is to get $1 million dollars out of you-FAST!

Apparently, not enough people are still buying his book. Or, could it be his support of President Obama hurt him with his core supporters and they quit contributing to his church? In any event, the Lord is not raining money down upon him from the sky despite his upraised arms of supplication. I wonder what happened to all the money he made from his book sales and speaking engagements? MC Hammer?

A Vincenzo and Cathy joint!

Yeah, but he's in big trouble, financially.
Even the secular news reported that he was $900,000 in the red.
He sent out a begging letter to all his supporters and benefactors asking for help before 31 December.
Christmas was a "slump time", I guess.
Evangelical poverty, simplicity, and faithfulness to the "poor Christ" is the only way that I see (not on my own, mind you, but by the example and teaching of the Church and the Saints!).
Happy Epiphany!

I read about this in the papers, and what a ding dong! I wonder how his personal finances are, which should be totally separate from the church he governs. If he's the fatted cow, personally, he should have given all or most of it to fix it. Maybe he did? Who knows. I like the "doctored" picture. Hilarious!

This makes me think......

"But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish. Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

I would bet that this man spent a lot of time thinking about money during his life time which could have been time well spent in prayer for others or drawing closer to God.

Vince, your the best photoshop Ninja master ! If I lived near you I would soooo pester you to show me these skills. You could be the head Kung Fu guy and I could be "grasshopper". Can you catch a fly with your bare hands?

Belinda, LOL! Yes I do! Used to love that show. "Quickly as you can, snatch the pebble from my hand." That's nice of you but all I did was paste him on to Dr. Evil. If you get photoshop I'll help you with it.

Cath - I had to go into 'properties' and get the 'jpg' of the image to get the guy's name, and then I did a search for him to find out who he is. After reading Wiki I realized I had 'heard' of him. Gratefully, these types are so off my radar screen I wouldn't be able to ask who they are on Jeopardy even if they were standing in front of Alex Trebeck. I know! I know who's on TV though don't I. LOL!

Is Father Corapi doing stand-in work now that he isn't making so many personal appearances?

What Terry said. When V sent me this, I thought it was about Obama and didn't get it.

My SIL was reading a book by Eckert Tolle...when's Oprah retiring?

swissmiss: Had to look up SIL on wikipedia...is this: SIL International, a global Christian non-profit organization that studies lesser-known languages?
I had a person tell me the counselor made him read Eckert Tolle...I read him, too.
Yuck.

Swissy: Tolle: New Age Reimagined Reconstituted crap. Little of this spirituality, little of that, mastery of none.

Did that sound harsh? :-) Not enough coffee yet and I'm crabby.

Father, your not dumb, your just outta the loop. My grown daughter laid beside me on my bed and hugged me while she madly sent text messages to her friends, even until 11:30 and sometimes beyond. They're constantly making up slang that I could never keep up with.

( -Satan uses these electronic services to be sure ! What with a little late night gossip and heartache- no big deal!) I'm being facetious, but not supportive.

belinda: "outta the loop" ...you got that right!
Why do I feel do flippin' old (I just turned 50) when I feel so young otherwise?
That's the question...

I heard on the radio that his plea for money brought in over $2 million.

Back in my Lutheran days, the church I was attending used his Purpose Driven Life for a big study group thing. I remember reading it and thinking "this is junk, and I - without the benefit of any divinity studies - know this." My second thought was that I should look elsewhere - as in outside the Lutheran church - for true salvation. ;-)

You didn't get my sarcasm about Tolle (the Oprah comment didn't give it away)? It goes right along with my SIL's (yes, sister-in-law's!) new mini Buddha and new agey Millenium candle. No creche this Christmas, just Buddha.

Mr Warren's theology is wicked. I learned about it a few years ago and learned he is the kingpin of the Life Enhancement Centres that has infiltrated churches. He's only one of the troublemakers. I've called out many of them on the Hadleyblog. Mosaic (Los Angeles; Erwin McManus) focused on a Pepsi contest at Super Bowl XLIV. I also found in a November article NewSpring (Anderson, SC) singing Beyonce and Parkview (DFW) singing Bon Jovi (which offends this classically-trained tenor). A church was offering a sermon on happiness in the workplace when the pastor was shot. And don't forget about the blog entry in December when I learned schools and churches were offering "silent monks" in a Faking It of a huge song that I've sung (and I joked about the pressure of having my choral folder carrying #48; Sprint Cup fans will understand). Those things are part of the gimmicks of a Warrenist church. God's Word is gone, replaced by life enhancement and entertainment. Rob Bell type things are taught.

And Concordia College's choir is coming to St. Peter's Catholic in our state next month. They are performing some Bobby McFerrin works, and I have the red light on top of the LED Daytona flagstand turned on. At a dance concert I attended for an arts requirement in college, I blasted the choreographers for using a McFerrin version of Psalm 23 that treated God as Feminine. Same idea of false theology.

Rick Warren and his minions are rampant in too many churches, and he is an arrogant self-centred leader who is leading the push to convert churches into life enhancement centres.
