Roll Up Your Sleeves And Get to Work!!!!

Gentle Reader: In the United States this morning we are waking up to the realization that death and evil won the election on several fronts. The states of Colorado, South Dakota and Washington come immediately to mind. The verdict is still out, as of this writing, on Proposition 8 in California (the gay marriage ban).

No matter which major party candidate won the Presidency, neither of them were in 100% conformity with Catholic teaching. That said, I don't think even though we may be more unhappy with the candidate who won that we would be completely rejoicing this a.m. if the "other guy" won. At least, I wouldn't anyway. That's why I did never came out on this blog with a wholesale endorsement of any candidate.

The outcome of the Congressional elections should be a concern since it seems the party that typically advocates for death and the disintegration of the traditional family took control.

The Supreme Court impact--I can't even think about that right now. Like Scarlett, I'll think about that tomorrow.

What's left?

Friends, this is as good of a day as any to make a serious commitment to ACTION!

Whether it's:
*continuing or starting blog advocacy,
*writing letters to your representatives
*responding in writing via letters to the editor when you see an opportunity to do so
*donating money to your favorite pro-life and/or pro-family cause,
*volunteering on phone banks for pro-life/pro-family causes,
*participating in, or starting, abortion clinic prayer vigils,
*volunteering for door-to-door evangelization for a pro-life/pro-family cause or candidate
*doing sidewalk abortion clinic counseling,
*making a commitment to regular prayer and/or fasting,
*resolving to evangelize among your circle of friends and acquaintances at every opportunity.
*Any combination, or all, of the above.

I feel that we lose for the following reasons:
*We don't hear it and we don't talk about it
*We don't believe enough
*We are not as organized as evil

People get ready! We need to get together! There is work to be done or else we have not only lost, we are lost.

...and everyone on TV seems so happy :(

Yes, it's a sad day. But, in case you are interested, I received this in an e-mail from one of the wonderful moms in my homeschool group (I've edited as much as possible since it is a little long). Join the telecon mentioned below tonight!

On a day when many are stressed about elections, I just
heard from one of our 40 Days for Life local campaign
leaders who is bouncing off the walls with the exciting
news that the abortion facility that was the focus of
their campaign over these last 40 days is CLOSING!!

The "Space Available" real estate sign was put in front of the building on Thursday -- day 37 of the campaign.
Yesterday, the local leader confirmed with the real estate company that the abortionist is shutting the business down for good.

We will have more details, including the location, as soon as the facility is closed -- which should happen very soon. But I knew you'd want to know that your prayers have produced an amazing result!

And another INCREDIBLE victory: as reports continue to
roll in from around the country about the impact of the 40 Days for Life campaign that just ended, the number of confirmed lives saved during the 40 days is...

...520!!

This number surpasses the previous total for all
earlier 40 Days for Life campaigns COMBINED!

A few days ago, Fr. Frank Pavone and I were talking on
the phone about how critical it is for the pro-life
movement to immediately join together following the
elections as a united front and map out an aggressive
strategy -- to be proactive, rather than reactive.

As a result, you are invited to join many top national
pro-life leaders for an urgent teleconference tomorrow
night, Wednesday, November 5, at 9:00 PM Eastern (6 PM
Pacific) where we will assess the election results
together and plan "next steps" for the movement in
light of those results.

Sign up now at:

http://www.40daysforlife.com/electionresults

On the call, we will encourage and equip one another
for the next phase of our movement. You will hear from
some of the top leaders representing the various facets
of the pro-life movement:

* FR. FRANK PAVONE, Priests for Life
* PEGGY HARTSHORN, Heartbeat International
* JOE SCHEIDLER, Pro-Life Action League
* KRISTAN HAWKINS, Students For Life of America
* BRAD MATTES, Life Issues Institute
* JANET MORANA, Silent No More Awareness Campaign
* DAN MCCONCHIE, Americans United for Life
* BRYAN KEMPER, Stand True
* MICHAEL SCHWARTZ, Chief of Staff, Senator Tom Coburn
* MATT LOCKETT, Bound4Life
* And me, DAVID BEREIT, 40 Days for Life

Amen, sister Janice! We can sit around and mope, or we can do something about it. I'm not a gracious loser - I'm a lousy loser, in fact, which is still somewhat surprising to me in that I've had so much experience with losing.

Be that as it may, we are being called on to act, to live our faith in perhaps more vital a way than we have in many years. This is our chance to demonstrate that faith. Jesus warned us that we would be hated because of Him - let's get to work.

Sadly, in this society, this culture, this time in this country - we will be hated by many (and appreciated by some, including those who might have started out hating us). So let us wear that hatred as a badge of fidelity. Let's get to it!

two things we need to do immediately: pray for Obama's conversion of heart on the issue of abortion and figure out how to stop him signing FOCA!
