Reading Recommendation

One of my favorite political writers is Tom Roeser . Mr. Roeser specializes in writing about Illinois and Chicago politics. Now that Senator Obama has been elected President, if you are not reading Mr. Roeser already I highly recommend it.

Mr. Roeser also writes for The Wanderer

Roeser is a fave of some of us in the Catholic Defense League. His name comes up regularly at our Wednesday meetings.

He has a recent interesting article about "political corruption" in HHH's Minnesota back in 1962 when a scandal was created out of a minor highway construction problem to shift enough votes to have the Democrats win the governor's race by less than 100 votes (it took 7 months for the recount and lawsuits).

Coincidentally, long before I had ever heard of Roeser's name, I purchased for a buck a slim paperback entitled "Ingenious Deceit" written by Roeser that detailed the incident. Roeser, who had graduated from St. John's (back when it was large C Catholic) was Press Secretary to the Republican Governor who was defeated in that race.

He knows the ins and outs of Chicago and Illinois Politics, that's for sure.
