Oprah's Gift Giving

Oprah's giving out gifts to her audience soon. What do you think? I'm hoping she gives us the gift of NOT endorsing any thing, any book, any set of sheets, or any political candidate. The gift of UNendorsement.

I think H-E-double toothpicks stands a better chance of freezing over than Oprah showing any restraint :) Or, as my mother used to say, there will be peace in Ireland before Oprah refrains from her endorsements!

I wonder if she's friend with Star (Bridezilla) Jones Reynolds, formerly of The View.

LOL Amen. I totally agree.
Oprah silence--a good gift.

Might it not be "good" if she continued to support Obama if it threw a monkey wrench into the campaign of one of the leading candidates at present.

Of course that would make it quite likely that Obama would become the Vice Presidential nominee.

That would shake things up in Washington.

Clinton Slips in Iowa Poll

Monday, November 19, 2007

"Illinois Senator Barack Obama gets the support of 30 percent of likely Democratic caucus-goers in Iowa, compared to 26 percent for Clinton, 22 percent for former senator John Edwards and 11 percent for New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson."

Re: Vincenzo's stats.

If Clinton loses Iowa, that would be a devastating blow to her campaign. And I doubt that she would have the humility to run for Vice-President.

Try living in O-town, AKA Chicago.
She's everywhere, man, everywhere!

Oprah---I have never figured out why she's so popular.

I watched her show a couple of times--it's every bit as vacuous as Tyra Banks show.

At the risk of getting smacked down--is it something that women get and men don't? Or clever marketing?

No, there is nothing men are "missing."
It is, however, much easier to convince a bored housewife that she needs a she-idol, someone who says all the right things, buys all the right things, and wants to make everyone "feel good."
One of the few bright spots on SNL these days is Maya Rudolph, and her Oprah is dead-on and high-larious.
When she introduces people she goes, "Please welcome Johnnnnnnnnnn Traaaaaaaavooooooooltaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

I saw about ten or fifteen minutes of that "Oprah's Favorite Things" show last night as I was waiting for my oil change. It amazes me how stupid people get over a little bit of "stuff".

Along with the HDTV fridge, I saw a "panini griller". $100 from Williams-Sonoma. It was basically a brushed-stainless-steel Foreman grill. I missing something?...

Oprah is really dangerous. If she wasn't putting her stamp of approval on every New Age bit of nonsense that came along the world would be a much better place. We can thank her for the success of "The Secret", to name just one of many.

Can you believe Oprah's grubby little fingers reach all the way to India now. They started carrying her on TV here regularly a couple years ago. Already I can see the effect it has had on the local women, who are surprised to hear me, an American woman, warn them about her. The Pied Piper of America's women has gone global. Scary.
