It looks like Terry and I got around Truax with no problem and he pushed his engine too hard. But that looks like Father Z coming up on our inside. We'd better give Betsy a little more throttle!

Cathy - I'm right with you in this. That Martin Truax - I can't believe it!

Bad day for Danny Lawrence, Richie Gilmore, and the rest of the RCR engine plant.

Somehow they used the R07 and didn't expect the 9,000 RPM on the engines; plate engines usually peak at 7,000 RPM, but the gear rule hurt the engines, since most development has been at lower RPM since there was no gear rule with the lower RPM.

The gear rule also caused more pit stops; previously, a car could go 45-50 laps on a stop with the lower RPM.

Bad rule that should be rescinded for the plate tracks.

Great safe race, btw.

Bobby - I know! I agree entirely. That is such a bad rule. I was going to do an entire post on it. Yeah, I'm glad it was safe. Safe is good.

Bobby: I agree. For Talladega it was very free of incident.
