Today will be my first First Friday Fast (that I know of). And I'm only remembering it because it's on your blog.

japhy: Let me know how it goes. It's challenging (for me, anyway) but I've found that it has really increased my prayer focus as well as emphasizing First Friday to me.

What do you "do"? My intent will be to take my lunch break and just pray before the Blessed Sacrament at my parish.

... or is there some "thing" I should be doing?

japhy: Your plan sounds just fine.

I struggle with incorporating daily prayer into my busy life. The fast sharpens me by reminding me of the purposes for the fast and that I should use any occasion of hunger as an opportunity for prayer instead of filling my face.

I do the following for First Friday:

I go to Confession (usually the night before)
I pray when I get up
I do drink water during the day-very important, you don't want to dehydrate.
I pray throughout the day and meditate on the intentions
I go to work
After work I go to Adoration, Benedication and Mass

japhy: I forgot to tell you, in case you did not already know:

There is the Devotion to the Sacred Heart. I strive to do this Devotion but it is not required that you do.

More info on it here:

I fast-fast! Is that a word? :-) From food. Water only.

I lost a fair amount of (excess) weight during Lent this year because I maintained the midnight Eucharistic fast every day I would attend Mass (which made Mondays, with 7pm Masses, REAL fasts) and I kept myself to the "Eucharistic diet", as I called it: two square meals a day, and one round one.
