Vermont Out of Touch with U.S.

The state of Vermont wants to secede from the Union.

They don't want to be a part of the big bad global empire anymore. By their own admission, they are uncertain how they are going to keep their state running without federal money. They better hope Ben & Jerry's sells enough ice cream and The Vermont Country Store sells enough flannel nightgowns to keep them going.

Here's an idea: any time you Vermonters want to return the federal money you are currently getting from the Big Bad Empire please do so. You are under no obligation to accept the money. Feel free to find your own way to build roads, finance Medicaid and SCHIP, send kids to college, all on your own.

I live next to Vermont. I've got a passport. Godspeed, Vermont!

Poor VT was a fine state until the hippies moved in and refused to leave.

Don't let the door hitcha where the good Lord splitcha!

They're huge fans of gay marriage there...don't worry, they'll die out from lack of procreation, and then the land will be turned into a wildlife habitat.

Ben and Jerry's will do well for awhile, and then they'll be hit with export taxes...and either fold or move out of state to more lucrative locales.

They're envious of Texas.

PS. For the record, I am against any secession movement, Texan, Vermontan, or otherwise.

How long would you think that it would take the Congress to pass import duties on maple syrup and Ben & Jerry's products and require visas for the Nation of Vermont citizens wanting to visit the 49 United States?

What will the cost of embassies in 180 countries do to the Vermont budget?

What monetary system will they use and upon what will the value of their money be based?

Histor: Vermont agreeing with anything in Texas is really ironic!

Ray: Those are good questions. Unfortunately, they don't have any answers in VT.

Ben & Jerry's is actually Dutch, and is not based in Vermont -- they are based in the Netherlands, where their parent company is Unilever NV.

And Vermont's judges gave Howard Dean the first move towards fake "marriages" designed to force Exxon Mobil to treat homosexual couples as "married" for marriage benefits. Exxon is one of a few major companies opposed to the homosexual community, and the more states that pass such "civil union" bills means Exxon Mobil, by law, must tag such expensive benefits under the law, much to their dismay.

(I am an Exxon Mobil shareholder and use their lubricants in my car to defend them against the homosexual agenda.)

Bobby: Thanks, I'd forgotten that B&J was purchased a few years back. I think they still have a production facility in Vermont.

Your last sentence: LOL!
