Fr. Welzbacher's Pastor Page on Archbishop Nienstedt

Fr. George Welzbacher, Pastor of the Church of St. John on the East Side of St Paul (childhood parish of Terry of Abbey-Roads!), writes his opinion of the David Hanners article in the Pioneer Press on May 7th on his Pastor's Page of May 13th. I blogged about that same newspaper story earlier and was quoted in the article.

Father Welzbacher holds nothing back regarding a certain priest of this Archdiocese whom I also thought did not distinguish himself in the newspaper story.

The comments of Fr. Michael Tegeder are just stunningly inappropriate under any circumstances. I always have to marvel at the contradiction inherent in such rants: speaking of an open and welcoming Church while, at the same time, being shockingly closed and unwelcoming.

it is never inappropriate to speak the truth.

It is always inappropriate to spread false witness and to teach contrary to scripture and tradition.

Micheal Tegeder is the sort of priest who drives men out of the church.

I'm glad I don't know you.

Well, I certainly don't understand those comments - sounds as if those two actually agree on their opinion of Fr. Tegeder.

Count me confused...

I think the deacon is actually shocked at Fr. Tegeder's attitude; he is discussing the comments OF Fr. T., not the ones ABOUT him. So after reading the Deacons' comments several times, I have come to the conclusion that he means to be in agreement with us in that the dissident priest is crying out for "openness" and yet has slammed the door in the face of everyone who doesn't buy his poisonous "theology".

If he comes back maybe he can clarify his intention.

Adoro: Deacon Dodge's meaning is clear, it's Mitch's that confuse me (and, perhaps, Mitchell).

Sorry for the confusion!

I meant to write "I'm glad i don't know HIM"

but I'm lousy at self expression.

Thanks, Mitch, for clearing up the fog!

I am surprised that my intention needs clarifying, but adoro gets it right. So, lest any confusion persist: Fr. Michael Tegeder's comments are inappropriate (i.e., socially unacceptable). Beyond being inappropriate, Fr. Tegeder's comments are also contradictory, as he speaks about an open and welcoming Church, while being closed and most unwelcoming to Bp. Nienstedt.

Maybe there will be an opening for Fr. Tegeder as a chaplin in Hastings MN?

Fr. Tegeder has been lied to and deceived by Satan. I pray for his soul and beg the merciful Saviour to give him the Grace to Repent and be saved. Rebellious was the downfall of the Fallen Angels as well as Sodom an Gorrmah sin caused them to be turned to stone. Lord Have Mery. Jesus I trust in you.
