SNOW!

8-10 inches on the ground at my home in St. Paul and it's still coming down! Yippee!!!

My street is not plowed yet. I'm really glad I went to Mass last night.

Update 6:00 p.m.: There has got to be over a foot in some places. The drifts by my garage and in some locations around my house (especially the East and West sides) are really deep. I helped push my neighbors car out. That's one. I'm surprised there was only one. Tomorrow, there may be more to push.

My street is only plowed down the middle and that was by a kind neighbor with a plow on his pickup. St. Paul waited to declare a snow emergency until tonight. Tomorrow, is going to be a bad commute. I'm going to work from home. No way, am I going to try and drive all the way out to the SW suburbs to get to the office tomorrow.

Be safe, everyone.

Update 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 26th: 13.4 inches in St. Paul.

It's hard to believe that it's almost the first of March and we're now getting our first real snow!

I'm heading out for Mass right now. I don't see evidence of much plowing yet, either.

I suspect that they have forgotten that plowing is one of the street department's jobs.

We didn't make it out this morning. First time I've ever missed Mass due to weather. (The three little kids complicate things --- I'm sure I could have made it if I only had to get myself there!)

Maybe I'll get going for one of the evening Masses at the Basilica.

I had to get a ride to Mass from people I knew would also be there...they were able to get out, but ALMOST got stuck themselves! Let's just say that God sure did help them.

On my side street, all they have done in 24 hours is go down the middle once. But in an hour and 20 minutes I have to get my car off of the main street, but there is no easy parking on the sides streets around here. 4 blocks from a Public Works Dept garage.

Fortunately our lot behind the building go plowed.

I guess our City Council who just paid a $2.3 million dollar penalty for passing an unconstitutional ordinance and pays hundreds of thousands annually for employees "suspended with pay" or as the rest of the world calls it, "undeserved paid vacations" has decided to get that money from the Library and the Plowing budget.

Well....thanks to that dumping of snow my husband and I were stranded in Boston. Well...weather there was rather beautiful and there's plenty of things to do (visited the Old North Church - ya know, one if by land, two if by sea - and Paul Revere's House, USS Constitution, etc) But the extra cost of hotel, meals, etc was NOT good. After more delays to our rescheduled flight, dropped him off at work then came home to 6 tons of heavy, wet snow in driveway and sidewalk (corner lot - low groaning sound) Ok...done with my rant, be patient with me as my own blog is only for God and I'm not allowed to talk about myself there!

I don't know why blogger is losing my initial comments...

Sanctus Belle: I'm glad both of you made it home alright. You probably just beat the East Coast version of our storm. I grew up in a corner home so I KNOW what you mean!
